I've never rated a novella 5 stars because I often felt they were too short to garner such rating. Something is often missing, either the incomplete plot or the unresolved issue/relationship. But as I reached the 4th installment, I've decided that this series totally deserves 5 amazing stars.

This is a story of Sloane, the ER doctor who was looking for her missing sister. She is willing to give up anything including her virginity to get any information. That is how she meet Zeth Mayfair, the anti-hero of the story. He is obviously on the wrong side of the law, he is a thug/hitman/criminal and a man with some deviant sexual urges. She should be afraid, but he offer his help that she can't deny.

Initially,I thought this series is going to be heavy on BDSM, but as the series progress, that was actually being toned down. Nonetheless, every sexual encounters are still freaking hot. I mean, he is Zeth Mayfair after all, the man who like to play with his toys and never leave his black duffel bag behind.

Every installment left me pretty satisfied on the sex department, no blue balls for me. But this couple obviously not opening up their heart or discuss anything deeper than their sexual urges. On the plot department, there is never short on action and suspense to keep me waiting for every release date. Things just get more and more deadly and more players were being introduced.

But what makes me love this series so much is that Sloane and Zeth had an understanding and acknowledged what they have together is something special. Zeth can be so sweet sometimes. He started off as someone so standoffish and close up and just wanted to bang, to someone who wants to be a better person for the girl he loves, which is so endearing.

Oh, the suspense. It was action-packed at its finest. There is a lot of thing happened from #1 to #6, you just have to read it for yourself. Honorable mentioned of the awesome secondary characters, Lacey and Michael. These two deserves all the attention that they deserve as well.

Highly recommended for those who love a highly erotic, slightly dark and action-packed romantic suspense. Everyone needs to meet the legendary Zeth Mayfair!

I seldom give books 5 stars. It just doesn't seem possible that they can deserve such high marks...(that, and a gushing reviewer sometimes doesn't appear believable). It's been a very long time since a story took such complete possession of my attention, and I cannot understand anyone giving this story anything less than 4✮s. I mean, I know we're all uniquely made and what floats my boat might sink yours...what sends you soaring might fall flat for me. But honestly, this story was an emotional, addicting rollercoaster that caused me to neglect my life...it was outstanding and brilliantly told. The layout reminded me a little bit of the drama "Breaking Bad"...not the plot, but the writing...the way there are three catastrophic and relatable scenes unfolding, with two more ready to land in our protagonist's laps...and even three more catastrophes circling the horizon, ready to fall. How everything is intertwined.

It all begins with Sloan Romera... a resident Dr. whose younger sister has been kidnapped. She's lived an orderly and controlled, scheduled life. She spends years searching for her missing sister, falling into the deviant criminal underworld where she meets Mafia Enforcer, Zeth Mayfair, a hardened criminal. She gets a crash course into Zeth's world and comes perilously close to death a few times. Right when she thinks nothing else in his world could shock her, she's proven wrong, I loved Sloan...loved her sassiness and spunky personality. She's strong and gutsy; stubborn and determined. She's scared out of her wits, but shows no fear. She's smart and knows when to shut up. She makes Zeth sit up and take notice without even trying. She makes him confused. She's his perfect conundrum. I loved all the twists and turns that loop back into themselves. I loved Zeth...how he swooped in time and time again to rescue Sloan; never once realizing he needed rescuing. Never once realizing she was his salvation.

A wonderful dark... brutally gritty... raw and frank story. Be prepared for dark and dangerous because it's darker than what you prepare for. Ms. Hart pulls no punches. Not with dialogue or the dangerous world of the criminal underworld. Parts of this story were unnerving. The author did an outstanding job conveying the seriousness of Sloan's situation. If there's a downside, it might be the one scene where a known criminal commits murder using a gun..in the middle of a hospital ...with witnesses!!!...without repercussion. No arrest!! It confused me and there was no explanation for the criminal walking away scot free.

I've never read this author before and I've got to wonder what rock I've been hiding under to have missed her....I am giddy that I've found her and her talented imagination. Told in first person with dual POV. This book set swept me off my feet and carried me away in all its diabolical, romantic and dangerous suspense. Brava and Encore!
Ok so I had a bit if a love hate relationship with the book. I loved the writing, the plot, and the characters. I loved the action and adventure. I loved that the author did not shy away from the violence for the most part. There is one time when it felt like a bad guy should have/would have been killed when the opportunity arose and it seemed unrealistic that he was not. Sure enough he came back to cause trouble and I found that rather irritating because Zeth did not seem like he would leave that type of loose end.

Now to the hate part. The author clearly is not from the US. That in and of itself is not bad. She used some slang like catching someone on the back foot that we would not say here but that is ok also. What I really could not get over though was the description of medical education. I do not know what the medical education system in Europe is like but in the US it is absolutely nothing like she describes. Her descriptions of interns, residents, how one gets into a residency program, etc...all wrong. She also uses the European name for a few drugs and spells esophagus the British way (oesophagus). She calls penicillin an antiviral drug when it is an antibiotic and although that has nothing to do with being from another country it does show that she should have had editing input from a US medical person since medicine played such a large role in the book. I am not even going to comment on someone surviving a nephrectomy on a table top using regular thread as suture material. In a way I was not as bothered by that ridiculousness because it is like watching a James Bond movie knowing what you are seeing could absolutely not happen but loving it anyway.

All in all these books were worth reading especially at the great bundle price.
