There are times when I look for something really different, a story outside the norm of its genre, and PIECES OF IT ALL fits the bill perfectly. This is not a New Adult novel about broken people fixing each other with sex that we so often see nowadays. PIECES centers on Beth and Harvey, both starting new chapters of their lives. Beth has graduated high school and has a whole summer in front of her before starting college in the fall. She's smart, capable, and maybe just a little naive. A totally believable young lady. During her graduation party she meets Harvey. He's a young man, just a few years older than her, back in town after a stint in rehab. He wants to change his life. He wants to start over...

But wanting and achieving goals are two separate things.

Though the chemistry is hot between Harvey and Beth, we watch Beth inch towards her new life, and Harvey slip back into his old one. Krimmer does an excellent job of keeping the situations real and poignant. Her writing is rich with lush descriptions, and her pacing will keep you turning the pages way into the night. I personally LOVE how this novel ends :) A surprising twist when I expected something else.

PIECES OF IT ALL is a truly different and engaging New Adult novel from author Tracy Krimmer. Don't miss it!

Pieces of it All Tracy Krimmer 9781496020567 Books Reviews

What a remarkable story! To watch a young Wisconsin woman graduate (so close to home!!), meet someone and fall quickly, learn so much about herself, so little about the boy she spends her days with, deal with family and friend issues and go through so many different emotions in such a short period of time, all before setting off for college, just wow.

Tracy kept me guessing with this one. When I thought I had figured out a piece of the puzzle, she turned a corner, and I was wrong. In cases like this, I love being wrong! 😉 Not being able to predict what happens next always makes a great read. I was a bit shocked with the ending but thinking back, it definitely made sense and was proud of the way Beth chose to live her first year of college.
"All it took, though, was the one person. Once the right person walked into your life, you did everything possible to make sure they didn't walk right back out. She wanted Harvey to stay. At least for awhile."

First love. For some, it's sweet and innocent. For others, it's something they would love to forget. For Beth Overland, it was what would forever change her life.

"If given the chance to let loose, this man sitting across from her would be the one to do it with."

Beth had just graduated high school. She had big plans with her friends to go to college and start the next chapter in their lives. What she didn't expect was for a guy to walk into her life and flip her world on it's axis.

Harvey Etheridge hasn't had it easy. Not only is his father a horrible person, but he traveled down an awful path of destruction that led him into rehab. After becoming sober, he came back home-where he didn't want to be. That was until he saw her. He saw Beth and suddenly he had a reason to belong somewhere. But just how far would he go to keep her?

"He needed to attach himself to a good girl, someone to show him the good in the world, someone to make him forget about his past and all the crap he went through."

This story made you fall in love with the bad boy. You wanted him to change for the better. You rooted for both of them to find their ways in life. Even with everyone trying to pull them apart, they kept fighting to stay together.

Beth and Harvey's story took many twists and turns. It had major highs and devastating lows. It's not your conventional love story--and that's okay. I enjoyed the ride of it all. I'll admit that I wasn't expecting that ending. It was not bad by any means, but it surprised me! Like I said, it's not your every day love story;)

"Clearly her mom thought of her as a young woman, and she was a young woman. A young woman falling in love. This was her cheesy romance novel."

I really enjoyed Tracy's book! The push and pull between Beth and Harvey kept me reading. The dynamic between them, and their friends and family, is what really set the tone of this book. I almost wish there was more to the book because I didn't want their story to be over. I guess that's the good thing about books that leave an opening...you can make your own ending)Great job!

"I care about you a lot. I've never cared this much about anyone."
"That's the difference, Beth. I've never cared. At all. But the thought of hurting you creates this pain inside me I don't understand."
At first I wasn't sure I would like this book. It isn't what I normally read. However, I loved it as the story progressed and I felt more invested in the characters.

Even though I am a middle aged woman, I could relate to Beth's story. Rebelling against overprotective parents is part of my past, and I understand both sides of the fence when it comes to protecting our child and the child wanting to break free.

All of the characters are believable, and I didn't need to like Harvey. I did like him at times, but I enjoyed the fact that the author didn't make him troubled with a heart of gold. People who grow up with Harvey's level of dysfunction are often too broken to love and to behave according to society's rules. Someone like him can get better and he's young enough to change. But it isn't going to happen overnight or because of one girl.

The author did a great job of realistically portraying a naïve young woman and a troubled guy, as well as the contrast of more wordly young women and a much nicer, well adjusted guy. This story shows us the differences in people and how everything is not always tied up in a nice, neat bow at the end.
